New music department building for The Godolphin and Latymer School which was shortlisted for an RIBA Award in 2009. This £4 million project was undertaken in collaboration with The Manser Practice. The school acquired the adjacent church site and this building is part of a long term development plan which will eventually link the church and the vicarage to the existing school buildings under one roof. Set between mature plane trees and the Grade 2* listed William Butterfield church, the new music school is a modern two storey building, flat roofed to maintain a low profile and with a glazed atrium running the length of the church to provide a full but delicate connection between the two buildings. It has an acoustically attenuated system of passive ventilation throughout to avoid the use of air conditioning.The design of the full development plan for this sensitive and tight urban site was fully supported from the outset by the local planning department and English Heritage.

Flower Shops, London

Over the course of a two year period Victoria Manser designed 6 flower shops for Moyses Stevens including this kiosk in the central concourse of Jubilee Place shopping Centre, Canary Wharf.

The kiosk is a two-part prefabricated elliptical design with a hinged junction that enables one half to open out on wheels. As it is opened up in the early morning it gradually reveals its colourful contents as a range of flowers, plants and gifts are loaded onto the various racks and shelves, many of which are retractable.

The main frame is made of softwood with a birch ply skin on both sides and mill finish aluminium outer cladding. All internal fittings are made of stained birch ply. The kiosk was installed over the course of one night and opened for sales the next day.

The kiosk is now occupied by Neal’s Yard Remedies.

House Extension, Surrey

Conversion of existing steel framed indoor pool extension to reception room.

The indoor pool was built in the 1980s and the original steel structure though elegant was showing signs of corrosion. It was decided to retain the steelwork but install a completely new insulated floor slab, walls and roof. Underfloor heating was installed throughout and a new study was created in the old plant room.

House Extension and Refurbishment, Kensington

Complete refurbishment and basement extension to terraced house in Kensington. The works included the installation of a green roof to the extension and solar panels on the existing pitched roof. A new staircase was installed throughout the four floors and general alterations to the internal layout included two new bathrooms, a new kitchen and storage fittings.

From 1994 to 2010 Victoria Manser was school architect for The Godolphin and Latymer School, an independent girls’ secondary school in Hammersmith.
